The School of Engineering is seeking to recruit a Director of Student Experience (DoSE) in a permanent teaching-focussed Associate Professor level role. This post will bridge academic, pastoral and administrative aspects of our taught undergraduate, degree apprenticeship and postgraduate degree programmes, further enhancing and sustaining the high quality of experience for our c. 1500 students. The successful candidate will have primary responsibility for coordinating the strategic development activities relating to enhancement of the student experience in the School.
You will have a track record of delivering high quality undergraduate teaching, including innovative practice and the sensitive promotion and dissemination of good practice; and you will be committed to enhancing the student experience in all phases of a student’s relationship with the University. You will have the desire to pursue a career based on advancing students’ educational experience at University level, the capacity to enthuse others about pedagogical development, and will work collaboratively to promote collegiality.
You will possess excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills and have significant experience of championing change management in a complex and challenging environment. You will have a good understanding of national policy relating to teaching in higher education, particularly teaching excellence and the mechanisms in place to assess such excellence across institutions.
You will have a PhD or equivalent doctoral-level qualification or substantial relevant professional experience in a field directly relevant to the post. You will be in possession of a teaching qualification or HEA accreditation (at Fellow level or higher). If relevant, you must be willing to complete Warwick’s Academic and Professional Pathway for Teaching Excellence (APP TE) and/or seek (further) HEA accreditation when in post. While the position is teaching-focussed, as part of your role we will strongly encourage and support you in the pursuit of individual scholarly and/or pedagogical research to contribute to the lively research culture of the Department. Your appointment would be contingent on satisfactory completion of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
All applicants must include: (a) a curriculum vitae (no page limit); (b) a statement of no more than two pages which demonstrates their suitability for this post with respect to the published criteria; and (c) a one-page statement which includes details of their proposed teaching contribution. Attachments other than those requested should not be provided, and applications submitted without the required attachments will not be progressed.
Applications from candidates in groups underrepresented in the Engineering sector are particularly welcome. The University aims to promote work life balance for all employees and the School of Engineering will consider a range of possible flexible working arrangements in order to recruit the best candidate.
This role will require an enhanced DBS check with children’s barred list.
Informal enquiries can be made to Prof. Georgia Kremmyda (Head of Teaching, School of Engineering, g.kremmyda@warwick.ac.uk).
Interview Date: TBC.
