Do you want to make a positive contribution to the student experience? Have you got excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to act with care and sensitivity?
We are seeking applicants who will promote the University’s values, and can use their skills and expertise to contribute towards fostering a safe culture, creating a welcoming and inclusive community.
As Student Conduct Manager you will consider and investigate individual student cases of alleged misconduct. This will involve the investigation of sensitive cases that may be emotionally challenging for students to disclose. You will have an approachable manner where students feel able to share their story. You will work closely with our Student Wellbeing and Inclusivity Service and the Students’ Union to ensure students are supported.
This post provides the opportunity to enhance the University’s approach in this area, leading work to review and develop policy, informed by best practice, feedback from students and insights from the data that you monitor. You will develop and deliver guidance and training to support members of the University community who have a role in supporting our conduct procedures.
You will bring relevant experience, and the ability to act with care and sensitivity. You will be confident working within a regulatory framework, and following and developing procedures and processes. You will be well organised and effective, with strong IT skills, and the ability to balance and prioritise workload and to meet deadlines.
The position is an ideal opportunity for someone who has worked in a similar role in a school, college or university or in an employee relations role. To ensure our conduct investigator team is representative of our student community, we would particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic applicants, and from male and non-binary applicants.
At the University of Essex, internationalism and diversity is central to who we are and what we do. We are committed to being a cosmopolitan, internationally oriented university that is welcoming to staff and students from all countries, faiths and backgrounds, where you can find the world in one place.
