Salary range: £41,139 to £49,367. Final salary dependent on skills and experience.

We have a new opportunity for a highly-skilled and professional HR Manager to join our busy HR team.

About the Role:

Sitting within our HR Business Partnering team, you will support, guide and advise managers on a wide range of people management challenges (employee relations, employment law, people management, HR policies and procedures). You will coach managers to improve their managerial, leadership and communication skills, working collaboratively to mitigate risks and implement solutions.

You will also work collaboratively with your wider HR team colleagues to ensure a joined-up approach to providing responsive and effective HR advice. Sharing knowledge and experience within the HR team, to encourage development and ensure a collaborative and unified approach is vitally important. 

You will be responsible for:

  • Act as a first point of contact for advisory level queries; providing effective and adaptive advice.
  • Working collaboratively with the HR Advisor, and wider HR team colleagues to ensure a joined-up approach to providing responsive and effective HR advice.
  • Managing an ER caseload including supporting managers through ER meetings; ensuring they understanding the appropriate policies and supporting the achievement of operational objectives. Escalating particularly complex or contentious cases where appropriate.
  • Where appropriate, provide mediation between conflicting internal parties, providing objective sensitive support and seeking to resolve difficulties and minimise impact to the individuals concerned, other colleagues and the institute.
  • To regularly contribute to the review and development of HR Policies and procedures, engaging stakeholders where appropriate and ensuring that they are fit for purpose and in line with best practice.
  • To contribute to and oversee project work as directed by the HR Lead Partner for their area and/or the Head of HR Business Partnering.

About you:

Skills and Experience

  • Experience of providing HR/generalist advice and guidance to all levels of staff and management in a professional or a technical environment.
  • Proven ability to mediate in difficult emotionally charged conflict situations and ability to recognise when different approaches are required to find solutions
  • Proficiency in employment law, Employee relations and performance management techniques
  • Proven Coaching skills
  • Well-developed IT skills and experience of interpreting reports/data
  • Qualified to Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development [CIPD] standard either through training or experience.

  • Team working skills, and an ability to deliver project outcomes
  • Well-developed communication skills and the ability to clearly present ideas and solutions; to listen, analyse and respond effectively in complex and difficult situations and influence and persuade as appropriate. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage a heavy workload of potentially contentious casework
  • Demonstrable ability to use a flexible and pragmatic approach to problem-solving
