Job description:
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a research team based at Newcastle University (Dr Felicity Dewhurst, Dr Marie Poole and Prof Barbara Hanratty, working with:
Manchester University (Dr Louise Tomkow), The London School of Economics (Professor Martin Knapp and Josie Dixon) and expert lay co-applicants (Malcolm Ngouala and Margaret Ogden).
This project is "Diverse Experiences of End of Life care for Dementia - Establishing Consensus and Capacity through Collaboration and Co-production" funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research Three Schools Dementia Research Programme for Improving the Lives of People Living with Dementia and Carers.
This innovative study utilises co-production with lay co-applicants to identify the important research questions and associated methodology needed to explore the end of life experiences of people with dementia from diverse backgrounds including ethnic minority groups and those experiencing poverty who are less likely to experience good end of life care.
This role will require you to review existing literature and research, and collect and analyse qualitative data at workshops (video conferencing and face to face). You will use a range of research methodologies including scoping review, co-design and production and qualitative observations and interviews. Working with the research team from Newcastle and Manchester Universities and the London School of Economics, you will be responsible for organising stakeholder workshops, data collection, the analysis of the qualitative data, and work with the team to produce materials for publication and dissemination.
You will be expected to manage your own time and plan activities, to ensure that the broad, strategic aims of the project are being met. You will need to work to tight deadlines and be extremely organised in delivering the work. You will be supported to manage the qualitative work on a day-to-day basis, guided by the overall research plan and time-table, and working closely with Dr Felicity Dewhurst and Dr Marie Poole at Newcastle University, and Co-PI Dr Louise Tomkow and at the University of Manchester.
This is a full time post, fixed term until 31 January 2024.
Enquiries can be directed to Dr Felicity Dewhurst or Dr Marie Poole (Email felicity.dewhurst1@newcastle.ac.uk or marie.poole@newcastle.ac.uk)
