Full-time, 35 hours per week

The Opportunity

Edinburgh College of Art are seeking to appoint a second Student Support Manager to join the growing Student and Academic Support Service (SASS). You will be part of a team that delivers services and support to both students and staff. You will play a key role in shaping a new team within SASS that focusses on student support and will share direct line management of the SASS Student Support team (around 6-7 direct reports each, team of currently 15 staff). In particular this post will work very closely with our Academic Support managers ensuring cross-team working leading and coordination of service delivery and projects. This post focusses on academic related support and administration as outlined in the job description.

Having grown from a team of about 30 to 45+ we are at a key transition point and this is an exciting time to join us. The post will be especially suited to an experienced manager keen to contribute to the leadership and development of our team and our service.

Skills and Attributes for Success

  • Degree or equivalent, management experience and relevant work experience of working in an HEI in a similar/related role.
  • Proven experience of both directly leading and managing teams and working collaboratively across boundaries in relation to service delivery and development
  • High level problem solving and analytical ability alongside well-developed communication and influencing skills.
  • Experience of managing change effectively, both in relation to stand-alone projects and more far reaching change projects.
  • Ability to anticipate, identify, and respond to issues of importance to the School/University and offer clear and practical advice and implementation methods on policy.
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust quickly as well as convey often complex and/or sensitive information
  • Ability to use initiative and independent judgement
  • Organisation and time management skills to plan and organise activities of complexity and across teams in ECA and wider University.
