About the Role

Expanding our capability in analysis and planning is a vital part of enabling QMUL to reach its ambitious targets.
This is a new role within QMUL Research Services. You will lead work to develop and maintain an overview of QMUL research and innovation performance and our position within the UK HE sector.
You will draw together insights from academic and professional services colleagues across the institution, seek external input and conduct your own analysis to create an integrated picture and recommendations for action. You will support QMUL in gaining a better understanding of operational performance and will lead aspects of sector wide statistical returns and major assessment exercises including the REF.
About You
This role is a perfect opportunity for candidates with expertise in analysis and interpretation of complex information to develop a wider understanding of strategic investment decisions in research.
You will have a relevant first degree or equivalent qualification and experience of working in the area of data and/or analytics with a good understanding of a range of quantitative and qualitative techniques. You will have advanced IT, numeracy and analytical skills and experience of using analysis to support decision making and providing clear and concise advice to senior management.
You will be a self-starter with strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience of developing good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders. You will have the ability to organise own workload and work on own initiative, effectively managing competing pressures and deadlines.
Experience of working in a university or knowledge of the research funding landscape is not essential.

The post is based at Queen Mary’s Dept W near Whitechapel, with frequent travel to other campuses in London. It is a full-time, permanent appointment, starting as soon as the successful candidate is available. The starting salary will be Grade 5, in the range of £41,386-£48,414 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
