About us
The Mary Lyon Centre at MRC Harwell (MLC) https://www.har.mrc.ac.uk/ is located in an expanding science and innovation park in Oxfordshire and is an internationally renowned centre at the forefront of genetics research. As the hub of the new National Mouse Genetics Network, the specialist facilities and capabilities of the MLC support a number of distinct research clusters spread across the UK to accelerate our understanding of human disease.
About the Role
The available posts are based within established laboratories involved in the generation and quality control of mouse targeted alleles and genotyping at the MLC. The laboratories use a range of molecular biology techniques including generation of CRISPR reagents, PCR, Sanger sequencing analysis, droplet digital PCR, non-radioactive Southern blotting, qPCR-based genotyping and embryonic stem (ES) cell culture.
We have two exciting positions for Research Assistants to join our Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB) team. Among this range of techniques, the post-holders will focus in particular on employing ddPCR for genomic or functional validation of new alleles generated by the service.
You may also be required to apply other molecular techniques in support of the genome engineering activity.
Previous experience of ddPCR will be an advantage, but not essential as training can be provided.
