Location: London, Devon House (St Katharine Docks)
Salary: Assist Prof (G8) £47,321 to £54,827, progressing to £58,155 once in post Assoc Prof (G9) £56,467 to £69,404, progressing to £75,833 once in post

The Role
Northeastern University London wishes to appoint an Assistant/Associate Professor of Design responsible for delivering courses such as Design Studio, Experience and Interaction, and Topics in Design History. The appointee will also play a significant leadership role in the development and management of Design at NU London as Head of Design & Communication Studies, which will include the development of the NU London Design Masters programme and/or programmes in Data Visualisation. Candidates with an active research programme in design as an interdisciplinary and integrative discipline are strongly preferred. Preference may be given to candidates with a background in design practice, experience in setting up and managing educational and research initiatives, and/or a degree in Design. We are particularly interested in candidates whose design research engages with AI and/or new technologies (such as XR), social justice, or network science.

Northeastern University London is embarking upon an exciting phase in its journey by establishing a new department in Design & Communication Studies. Hiring a new Head of Design & Communication Studies is central to this development, further developing and growing our portfolio of courses in architecture, architectural history and design. Design research methods and systems thinking as well as digital competencies will feature prominently and will serve to enhance our association with Northeastern University through closer ties with The College of Arts, Media and Design (CAMD) in Boston.
