Come and join us in a small but passionate team in the Office of the School of Technology where we work together to propose, consult and implement policies and procedures across our Departments and Institute.
Your role will cover the full range of finance activities across the School, as deputy to the School's Finance Business Partner (FBP). It will involve working closely with the FBP and Senior Finance Advisor, in the School Office, while reporting to School Committees and liaising with finance and administrative leads in departments across the School and colleagues in the Finance Division.
You will be responsible for managing the School's annual planning submissions, including 6+6 and 9+3 forecasting, as well as overseeing the annual budget process. This will involve preparation and presentation of financial paperwork for School Committees. As deputy to the FBP, you can expect to work unsupervised, liaising directly with colleagues across the University, particularly in the School Office and in departments across the School.
Other aspects of the role include developing and implementing improved School-wide planning and budgeting processes in response to developments of the University's ongoing Finance Transformation Project, organising communication and training events for lead finance staff across the School, supporting finance staff across the School, in response to challenges emerging from day to day financial activities and overseeing the administration of the School Office finances.
We seek a person with a full professional accounting qualification. You will have experience of effectively engaging in the culture and objectives of a complex organisation, ideally in the HE sector. You will need excellent influencing, communication, analytical and problem-solving skills and present demonstrable business acumen.
The University is committed to developing its staff and there are lots of opportunities for a range of personal and professional development. The full range of benefits of working at the University can be found in the further particulars of the job.
