We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Assistant for an ERC Advanced project studying the evolutionary biology of antibiotic resistance led by Craig MacLean.

Antibiotic resistance has emerged as a fundamental threat to health and prosperity. We are recruiting a  lab-based postdoctoral researcher to study the evolutionary processes that drive the rise and fall of antibiotic resistance in human hosts. This will involve phenotypic and genomic analysis of  Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates collected during a clinical trial combined with large scale evolution experiments under controlled lab conditions. The postholder will carry out these experiments as part of a large team (computational postdoc, PhD students, research assistant) with access to cutting-edge experimental facilities. The postholder will have the opportunity to regularly interact with collaborating researchers in Oxford and across Europe.

This position provides an excellent opportunity for ambitious researchers who are interested in applying ecological and evolutionary approaches to combat antibiotic resistance as part of a diverse and friendly team. The position is ideally suited for researchers with a background in evolutionary microbiology / experimental evolution.

The position is available for 3 years, with a possible extension to 5 years.

Please send enquiries with CV to craig.maclean@biology.ox.ac.uk
