SDG in partnership with Queen’s University Belfast have an exciting employment opportunity for a graduate to work on a Knowledge Transfer Partnership.

In collaboration with the School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering and Civil Engineering in the School of Natural and Built Environment at Queen’s University Belfast the candidate will work on a project to design, develop and market a range of innovative sustainable composite accessories for precast concrete that incorporate sensors to facilitate structural health monitoring and are at the forefront of construction technology innovation, globally. The project will involve engagement with AMIC (Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre) and use of laboratory facilities in AMIC and in Civil Engineering.

SDG has been supplying specialist precast and construction accessories across Ireland and the United Kingdom for 30 years. The Technical Division provides expert advice to developers, regulators, architects, engineers, and designers. SDG have a reputation for technical expertise, product range, and innovation.

SDG has five business areas:

  • Construction Accessories
  • Precast Concrete Accessories
  • Waterproofing
  • Acoustic / Vibration Control
  • Technical Solutions and Consultancy.

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate you have:

  • At least a 2.1 Honours degree in civil, mechanical engineering or related discipline from an accredited university degree programme
  • Completion of a relevant student project or work placement
  • Knowledge or practical experience of polymers / composites materials and manufacturing, construction materials and methods, sensor technology would be an advantage for the Associate
  • Experience working in the construction and / or manufacturing sectors.
