About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to work within the Joint Research Management Office (JRMO) facilitating the Queen Mary University Ethics of Research Committee (QMERC). To provide specialist support for the Research Ethics Committee (REC), members, and Chairs; and advice and support to researchers applying for ethical approval. The post holder will be responsible for offering timely and proportionate advice and expertise to researchers on human research ethics.
As a first point of contact for enquiries, the role requires to deliver reliable and comprehensive high quality professional service to the University's academic community.
The main responsibilities of the role will be provision of full administrative support to the Research Ethics Panels and REC; agreeing agendas with the Chairs; providing high quality minutes of complex discussions; feedback to researchers; preparing all documentation and delivering training to researchers. The role will also involve supporting internal communications with academic colleagues about changes to policy and ethical legislation; and as system administrator for an online applications system ensuring accurate system updates to meet current needs and generating reports. The post-holder will be expected to exercise discretion and independent judgement.
About You
Educated to degree level (or professional equivalent) with outstanding attention to detail and ability to develop excellent working relationships with researchers, flexible to their individual needs and expertise. Experience of research administration, coordination, or management of research studies and writing and submitting or advising on academic ethics applications is highly desirable.
The post holder will work closely with another Research Ethics Facilitator and the Senior Research Ethics Facilitator to provide assistance with general and project-specific service improvement work to ensure a thriving research culture and environment.
