About the role
Applications are invited for the post of Research Technician hosted in the Centre for Phage Research within the Department of Genetics and Genome Biology at the University of Leicester. This post involves characterising phage that replicate in bacteria in the stationary growth phase. The successful applicant will have experience in phage research as well working with stringent cultures of stationary phase bacteria.
About you
The successful candidate will have a technical or scientific education to BSc degree level with previous laboratory-based experience in working with bacteriophages and pathogenic bacteria. You must have good laboratory and microbiological skills including PCR and DNA extraction, with knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures.
Experience of establishing homogenous cultures of stationary phase bacteria and working with phage-specific bioinformatics tools would be beneficial.
