The Astronomy Group of the University of Southampton's Department of Physics & Astronomy invites you to join our rapidly growing team and work with Dr Diego Altamirano to understand the physics of accretion onto compact objects. You will take the lead in our current efforts of addressing key questions in accretion physics by exploiting data from Southampton-led fast optical camera OPTICam. You will be involved in the supervision of projects lead by PhD students.

To be successful you will hold a PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in  Astrophysics with detailed understanding and knowledge of  Optical data analysis. However, applications will be considered if your research is focused on any of the different flavours of accretion disc physics.

The position is available from 1st January 2024 on a full-time basis but flexible working will be considered, with start dates possible up to 1st March 2024. The post is available until March 2025
