We are seeking an exceptional postdoctoral candidate for a fixed term (3 year) position to perform research in the general area of synthetic and mechanistic main group chemistry. This is following the award of an EPSRC New Investigator Award to Dr Catherine Weetman entitled "Developing a Future Green Chemical Economy through Aluminium Bimetallics".

This project will design and develop new metal-metal bonded bimetallic systems, with the aim of accelerating understanding of how the two metals work in tandem to effect bond activations and catalytic turnover. This will provide an entry point into establishing new catalysts based upon sustainable earth abundant metal centres.

The successful candidate must hold a PhD in inorganic/organometallic chemistry and have a strong background in the synthesis and characterisation of highly air- and moisture-sensitive organometallic compounds. Other areas of expertise relevant to the position include ligand design, mechanistic studies, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Candidates should also have a strong scientific track record as evidenced by the quality and quantity of published work, together with excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills.

It is anticipated formal interviews for this post will be held in February 2024.

Informal enquiries about the post can be directed to Dr Catherine Weetman, (catherine.weetman@strath.ac.uk).
