Fixed Term position, 3 years if in post by 1st April
Start date: Flexible, earliest 1st April
The Institute for Astronomy at the University of Edinburgh welcomes applications for a postdoctoral research associate in cosmology inference. The successful candidate will join the research group of Joe Zuntz and Catherine Heymans. The appointment is for an initial period of 3 years, with the possibility of extension depending on continuing funding streams. Please attach a statement of your planned research to your application, of anywhere from 1 - 4 pages, with no particular length preferred.
This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week), however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns.
We are seeking applicants with expertise to work on cosmological inference, with a focus on the Rubin Observatory. This will involve developing statistical methods and tools for analysing measurements made with the telescope, especially using machine learning and differentiable methods. It will also involve applying these methods to forecasts and early Rubin data. Successful candidates will also have the freedom to pursue their own related research interests, within the supportive environment of the IfA. There will be the opportunity to join the LSST Dark Energy Science Collaboration.
