An exciting opportunity has arisen for a general operations manager in one of Oxford University’s Colleges. St Antony’s College, situated in north Oxford, is a registered charity and home to a community of graduate students and scholars, with a total student body of c.550+. You will lead the estates and operational teams (‘Domestic Bursary’) and ensure the provision of high-quality catering, front of house, housekeeping and estates services for all those living and working on site, as well as to our Governing Body Fellows (senior academics), our Academic Visitors and other College members, Antonians (alumni), and conference/seminar speakers and guests. The estates and operational teams are in many ways the face of the College and you will be responsible for ensuring high quality and professional service delivery across all of these functions.

As well as providing leadership to your teams, you will support and guide senior academic colleagues on a range of estates and compliance matters, demonstrating sensitivity to their perspectives and objectives while balancing these against the regulatory environment. St Antony’s College is one of the seven graduate colleges of the University of Oxford. The College specialises in the interdisciplinary study of international relations, economics, politics and history of particular parts of the world and has around 550 postgraduate students. It provides an informal and multi-cultural environment for advanced research and post-graduate education and has become a leading centre for international studies.

To be successful in your application, you will have proven experience of management at a senior level with a broad span of responsibility and strong leadership of multi-functional teams. You will be able to problem-solve and resolve situations in a complex environment and balance operational priorities with the needs and strategic objectives of the College. Excellent knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and regulations and a willingness and ability to act as the Health and Safety Officer and Premises Licence Holder for the College will be essential. You will bring experience of dealing with building/estates management issues, commercial acumen, and a commitment to environmental sustainability. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to motivate and develop staff will be important, together with a flexible and positive approach to the role and a willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed. Experience of hospitality and events management would be advantageous.

In return, we offer excellent benefits including 41 days’ annual leave (including bank/public holidays), membership of the USS pension scheme, free meals in College during normal working hours and when the Hall is open, and access to a car parking space in the College’s grounds if available. Please visit the College website for further information, including the job description, person specification and details of how to apply.

The closing date for applications is 9am on Monday 15 th January 2024. Interviews are expected to be held in the week commencing 29th January 2024.
