We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant in Assay Development & High-Throughput Screening to join our Chemical Biology research group at the Centre for Medicines Discovery, Nuffield Department of Medicine.
You will be responsible for performing and developing cellular assays and model systems to study the function of disease-relevant genes and determine the cellular effects of small molecule probes using a variety of functional assays. You will be tasked with assisting a multidisciplinary team in follow-up studies and characterization of novel chemical probes for drug target validation in cancer and inflammatory disease. Throughout this role, you will be performing cell assays using different readouts (e.g. CellTiter Glo, colony formation assays) in different plate formats. Finally, you will also be responsible for performing meticulous documentation of experimental results and procedures, and providing information for publication of the results.
It is essential that you are hold a first degree in biology or biotechnology, together with experience in designing and cloning CRISPR and shRNA constructs. You will also have experience in designing and developing cellular reporter (e.g. luciferase-based) or cell target engagement assays (e.g. CETSA, NanoBRET). You should have basic general lab practice (cell biology, PCR, microscopy, lab instrumentation) and the ability to work as part of a team and communicate/collaborate with colleagues orally and in writing and assist in supervising students.
