This role is based at the BGS offices in Edinburgh, which are situated on the Heriot Watt University campus

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated HR Business Partner to join the BGS Human Resources and Learning & Development Team.

The HR Business Partner advises on a range of HR related queries from managers and staff within BGS and to ensure that an effective, customer focussed service is provided which adheres to UKRI and BGS policy, employment legislation and best practice.

The HR Business Partner will manage employee relations casework and support the HR Advisors/Coordinators. You will play a key role in supporting the Head of HR in progressing a range of HR related projects, strategic objectives, and Organisational Development initiatives.

About you

We are looking for a Human Resources specialist with extensive experience.

You will be skilled in providing advice, guidance and support to management and employees across a range of areas such as:

  • Talent Attraction
  • Talent Management
  • Employee Engagement
  • Employee Relations

You will bring enthusiasm and a positive mindset to support any culture change activity and drive employee engagement through strategic HR projects.

With the BGS Strategy and People Plan as the overarching framework, the role holder will be a trusted business partner, working closely with our heads of department and Chief Scientists to support our teams through all stages of the employee lifecycle, and to utilise appropriate people interventions to enable them to deliver business effectively.

The post holder will work on a variety of different HR projects. In the near-term, key projects BGS are undertaking is an organisational-wide job evaluation review and developing and implementing a strategic workforce plan. We would welcome applications from HR professionals who have strong data analysis skills, have experience of implementing workforce planning, and are IT savvy.
