Background

The Dept. of Journalism at City, University of London is looking for a Customer Support Officer to join the Journalism Learning and Technical Support Team in providing frontline customer support services to Journalism students and Academic staff .

The post holder will be responsible for the A/V equipment loan system and for purchasing AV / IT consumables - used across the Journalism Studios - along with maintaining a full student call log - detailing A/V kit allocation & use of resources and providing management with this information.

The Journalism Learning & Technical Support Team provides learning and technical support for the Broadcast TV / Radio studios and the creative media production & post-production computing environments available to the Journalism students and Academic staff for teaching, learning and research within the School of Communication & Creativity.

Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for the A/V equipment loan system and for purchasing AV / IT consumables, used across the Journalism Studios, along with maintaining a full student call log detailing A/V kit allocation & use of resources and providing management with this information.

They will provide frontline customer support in the preparation of A/V media production kits that are issued to the Journalism students and Academic staff. Ensuring that all A/V kits are available for day-to-day operational users, maintaining A/V kits and ancillary equipment and cables to accepted professional standards. Logging A/V kit faults as reported by users. Providing practical skills support for students by showing them how to use the A/V kits and ancillary equipment.

Person Specification

Applicants need to have a working knowledge of desktop PCs, running Windows operating systems and be able to evidence a keen interest in creative media production i.e. Video and Audio production and post-production.

A qualification in creative media production or computing and customer service experience would be desirable.
