Reporting to the Design & Engineering Innovation Centre Manager and working within the Department’s Design & Engineering Innovation Centre, this role provides support across the portfolio of Design and Engineering courses at postgraduate and undergraduate level, as well as to PhD students and staff engaged in research and knowledge exchange activities.
You will provide general technical support in the electronics workshops and laboratory, including the use and maintenance of equipment within the department. You will also provide technical support for undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD and staff projects, as well as inspiring and motivating students about design and engineering.
You will have a higher education qualification in an electronics discipline and/or related industrial experience. You must have experience in practical electronics manufacturing techniques. You should have basic microcontroller programming skills & experience in the implementation of small intelligent systems using microcontrollers. Experience of working in an electronics workshop environment and/or educational environment would be desirable. You should be willing to act as Laser Support Officer for the department, where training will be given. You must have the ability to work well with students and staff combined with a proactive and independent approach.
