ABOUT THE ROLE

The Cyber Threats Research Centre (CYTREC) seeks to appoint a Research Assistant to support the EU-funded Tech Against Terrorism Europe project (TATE).

The TATE project supports smaller hosting services providers (HSPs) in building their counterterrorism frameworks and with transparency reporting, as required by the EU’s Terrorist Content Online (TCO) Regulation and in Directive (EU) 2017/541.

There are seven members of the TATE consortium: Tech Against Terrorism, Saher Europe, Dublin City University, Ghent University, LMU Munich, the JOS Project, and Swansea University.

CYTREC’s role within the TATE project is to identify online platforms whose services are being exploited by terrorist groups and their supporters, and to develop a prioritisation matrix to assist competent authorities in deciding where to target their capacity-building and enforcement efforts.

The Research Assistant will provide administrative support and help support the activities of the project. In particular, the successful applicant will assist with the collection and analysis of data.

EQUALITY, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

The University is committed to supporting and promoting equality and diversity in all its practices and activities. We aim to establish an inclusive environment and welcome diverse applications from the following protected characteristics: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race (including colour, nationality, ethnic and national origin), religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation.

We have an under-representation of women and ethnic minority colleagues in academia and would particularly encourage applications from these groups. Appointments will always be made on merit.
