We are a world class research-intensive university. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality. We play a leading role in economic, social and cultural development of the North East of England. Attracting and retaining high-calibre people is fundamental to our continued success.

The Creative Policy and Evidence Centre (Creative PEC) is recruiting for a new Deputy Director based at RSA House in London. The Creative PEC provides independent evidence to support the growth of the UK’s creative industries. Led by Nesta for its first five years, the Centre is now a twin hub led by Newcastle University and the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) in London. This North-South approach enables us to work across the national policy landscape and provides greater regional ties.  We also work with a small consortium of research partners, focussing on Internationalisation; Arts, Culture and Heritage; Education, Skills and Talent; and R&D, Innovation and Clusters. With our partners, we publish high-quality data and reports to spot trends, make annual comparisons, and provide quantitative insight to support informed policy decisions.

In an exciting time of growth and development for the Creative PEC, and in the context of the DCMS' Creative Industries Sector Vision, we are looking to appoint a new Deputy Director. The Deputy will play a key role in the strategic growth and day-to-day operational running of the Centre. They will oversee the implementation of business processes across the Creative PEC team and line manage and coach the Heads of Policy, Communications and Operations. The appointee will work closely with the Director, also engaging with a wide range of stakeholders across policy, media, industry, and the academic sector more generally. The new Deputy will be a persuasive ambassador for the Centre in a range of fora.

Strong candidates will be proactive and strategic thinkers with an agile and truly inclusive approach to leadership. They will have experience of managing complex business processes and be able to hit the ground running in a fast-paced research and policy environment. They will have a track record of successful business development and partnerships working. Outstanding communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels will be key.
