About the role

We are seeking a Business Development Officer to join Arts University Bournemouth’s (AUB) newly formed AUB Academy for a fixed term period of 18 months. The role will involve developing the AUB Academy’s facility to deliver bespoke courses, and to increase and secure new business opportunities on a national and global level.

The successful applicant will also support AUB Academy in developing its new online course provision to further enhance commercial opportunities to its customer base and increase client/student retention. You will oversee co-ordination and operational delivery of all bespoke courses conducted at AUB ensuring the highest possible standards of client/student expectations and satisfaction. You will be expected to support in the development of all new courses working closely with clients and the AUB Academy Operations Manager.

AUB Academy’s bespoke and online course provision is designed to support clients and students from a wide variety of business and education sectors in successfully achieving their specific learning goals and objectives. Many clients/groups will travel to, or connect with AUB Academy, from international locations to gain access to the unique specialist campus resources and expert teaching teams. Clients and students will be encouraged to explore, study, and develop creative skills in an inclusive environment that fosters the exchange of knowledge, skills-development, and innovation.

You will be responsible for the co-ordination and operational delivery of all bespoke courses supported by the AUB Academy, and AUB Student Recruitment and Marketing teams. You will be responsible for operational, logistical, and administrative support for all aspects of the increasing bespoke course portfolio, and as you progress in the role will work with tutors to create unique packages of exciting course content for all new courses.

The successful applicant will need to be a confident self-starter with experience of developing business and identifying new opportunities. You will be able to evidence your experience of coordinating or delivering a range of appropriate operational activities. You will have strong interpersonal, project management and organisation skills. You will have a good understanding of, and commitment to the importance of widening access in Higher Education and a passion for creative arts education.

This position will require occasional off-campus visits, scheduled weekend/early evening shifts with particular commitment to attendance on-campus for bespoke course delivery during June-September.

This position involves working with children (under 18s) / vulnerable people and therefore requires compliance with the University’s Safeguarding Policies, including the requirement for enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance prior to the commencement of employment.  The University is committed to stringent Safeguarding practices, including in its practices around the recruitment and selection of staff, to positions which involve working with children and/or vulnerable people.  The successful candidate will be required to complete AUB approved Safeguarding Training.
