Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Fire Engineering Apprenticeships

The College of Built Environment, is a new College in the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Built Environment and caters for all aspects of the Built Environment provision, including Fire Engineering Safety Degree Apprentices.

 Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Act as a personal professional academic tutor, supporting and mentoring Fire Engineering Safety Degree Apprentices students as requested by Head of College. 
  • Provide expert operational advice to Apprenticeship Team and support Administrator to fulfill Compliance. 
  • Ensure co-ordination between Fire Engineering Safety apprentices, sponsors, and academic staff. 
  • Ensure the apprenticeship process is managed efficiently and effectively in line with our agreements. 
  • Ensure that the apprentice is building a complete portfolio of experience in preparation for their End Point Assessment in accordance with apprenticeship guidelines. 
  • Work with the academic team and APTEM to ensure that the apprentice is prepared for their EPA within the apprenticeship guidelines. 
  • Take a Course leader role For Fire Safety Engineering Apprentices in ensuring that appropriate records of reviews are kept and stored securely in accordance with University and external bodies’ audit requirements. 
  • Produce monthly reports to show compliance, retention, and success against given targets. 
  • Schedule and manage visits with employers to carry out health and safety checks, safeguarding and assessment of evidence and tripartite reviews. 
  • Support and encourage employers to actively participate in the review process and offer mentoring support to young learners and with particular focus on young apprentices as well as those who have declared the need for additional support. 
  • Provide tutorial pastoral care to students, referring when necessary to services that provide further support. 
  • Deliver during block teaching required modules for the Fire Engineering Safety Appendices.
  • Work with the Head of College, Apprenticeships Lead, and Apprentice Administrators to provide an outstanding apprenticeship service students and employers.
