Our suite of undergraduate degree programmes in Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology are attracting exceptional numbers of well qualified students. The Department was in the UK top five for research power and output in the 2022 REF and is home to The Institute of Criminal Justice Research (ICJR), Work Futures Research Centre and the Centre for Eastern European and Eurasian Studies.

About You

You will be a committed and engaging educator in the field of criminology, sociology or social policy and will contribute to the development of our undergraduate programmes. We welcome applications that bridge these disciplinary areas, but especially encourage applicants with expertise in areas such as: inequalities e.g. race and ethnicity, class, gender, age, sexuality and disability; contemporary and classical social theory; research methods (qual and/or quant); social psychology and crime; cognitive psychology and crime; policing; criminal justice; cybercrime; terrorism; hate crime; genocide; drug abuse; marginalisation and crime; media and crime; and public policy in areas such as migration and sustainability.

You will have the expertise to strengthen our teaching profile and contribute to our intellectual community. You will have experience of teaching in Higher Education and a doctorate or equivalent qualifications and experience in an aligned social science discipline is essential. 

As a Teaching Fellow, you will teach at an undergraduate and postgraduate level. Whether developing your own teaching approaches, acting as supervisor to your students or contributing to the effective administration of our department, you will enjoy scope to innovate and make a significant impact.
