Embedded Researcher/ Senior Research Fellow x 2

Leeds Beckett University - School of Health

Location: Leeds
Salary: £48,350 to £56,021
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Fixed-Term/Contract
Placed On: 12th March 2024
Closes: 15th April 2024
Job Ref: REQ0001720

The Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) Wakefield offers an exciting opportunity to appoint two Embedded Researchers at Senior Research Fellow grade to help achieve the vision and ambition of the collaboration.

HDRC Wakefield seeks to understand what affects health and wellbeing in Wakefield District, by creating a pipeline of varied, high-quality research and insight, co-produced with communities. The HDRC will mobilise that understanding, creating better decisions, policies and actions that will ‘add years to life and life to years’ for Wakefield citizens.

The two Embedded Researchers will work together as part of the HDRC infrastructure, but will have different research and leadership priorities.  Candidates should specify which role they are applying for in their application.

1. Embedded Researcher – Wakefield Metropolitan District Council (WMDC) based

The Embedded Researcher will be embedded within Wakefield Metropolitan District Council (WMDC) to support the development of research capacity; evidence-into-policy; and enhance knowledge-translation to improve health outcomes for Wakefield citizens.  Candidates with experience of working in local authority contexts would be highly-desirable or with a track-record in knowledge-mobilisation.

2. Embedded Researcher – St George’s Community Centre based

The Embedded Researcher will be embedded within St George’s Community Centre, Wakefield to support the development of research capacity in the voluntary and community sector (VCS) organisations; support community researchers; work with stakeholders to facilitate evidence-into-policy; and enhance knowledge-translation to improve health outcomes for Wakefield citizens.  Candidates with track-record in community research approaches and of working collaboratively with VCS organisations would be highly-desirable.

Both posts require an experienced researcher with strong methodological understanding and the ability to lead and work autonomously and with stakeholders.  A research track-record demonstrating the ability to secure external research funding and publications in peer-reviewed publications will be beneficial.

Both Embedded Researchers will benefit from academic support and supervision by colleagues in the School of Health at Leeds Beckett and will have opportunity to develop their skills and their own academic interests and profile.

This is a full-time, fixed-term contract until 31 December 2028.

Closing date: 15 April 2024 (23:59) Please note that you will not be able to edit or submit a part-completed application form after the closing date.

Working here means you’ll also have access to a wide range of benefits including our generous pension schemes, excellent holiday entitlements, flexible working, reduced study fees, subsidised fitness facilities and a lot more.

We welcome applications from all individuals and particularly from black and minority ethnic candidates as members of these groups are currently under-represented at this level of post. All appointments will be based on merit.
