This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious candidate who wants to develop their career at the interface of research, policy, and practice with a focus on tackling the determinants of health inequalities. As an Embedded Postdoctoral Researcher in the NIHR Health Determinants Research Collaboration North Yorkshire (HDRC NY), the successful applicant will join an academic and local authority team with significant opportunities for career development.

As one of the eleven ‘second wave’ HDRCs funded by NIHR, HDRC NY is a collaboration between the University of Hull, North Yorkshire Council and the University of York that will build the capacity of the Council and the two Universities to conduct and use research to improve health and wellbeing (see NIHR Award: https://fundingawards.nihr.ac.uk/award/NIHR158758). The Collaboration will develop the research culture of the Council and build Council-University partnerships to conduct and use research on the health and wellbeing issues that matter to communities and which reduce inequalities.

The post is designed to support the development of researcher mobility across areas of knowledge and organisations that is envisaged in the UKRI’s Strategy 2022-2027, with hybrid working supported across the University of Hull and North Yorkshire Council and an assigned workspace in both organisations.
