Role Summary
The appointees will be PhD students in the area of paediatric oncology and be registered on the ‘The Azaylia Childhood Cancer PhD Programme’. They will undertake project-specific research in this area, on one of the below projects, as part of an established academic team:
Identifying therapeutic vulnerabilities in paediatric AML harbouring KMT2A rearrangements. Supervised by Dr Paloma Garcia.
Linking phenotype to genotype in paediatric Acute Myeloid Leukaemia with GATA2 mutations. Supervised by Dr Rui Monteiro.
Their main objective is to produce international quality research data and present a thesis for PhD viva voce examination. These posts align with current strategy in the Institute of Cancer and Genomic Sciences to strengthen in the areas of clinical oncology and translational cancer research in Birmingham. It is an expectation that the appointees will help establish stronger links between the Birmingham Children’s Hospital and The University of Birmingham and enhance, directly, translational research capacity within the Institute.
