ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a fixed-term role for 33 months full time research officer position in ~ 2M€ project funded to an international team of researchers by Novo Nordisk Foundation. The project is focused on the development of precision glyco-oligomers and polymers as effective and affordable anti-influenza drug candidates.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Research Officer who will lead and undertake a range of project activities to support the development of anti influenza drug candidates. Activities will include the design, synthesis, and scale up of sugar derivatives, and their conjugations with polymers and oligomers to achieve the lead candidate. Compounds will be purified and characterized by a variety of organic and physical techniques such as 1D and 2D NMRs, MALDI, Mass, FT-IR, UV-Vis, GPC, and HPLC.
The post holder will work closely with the project Principal Investigator at Swansea (Dr. Sumati Bhatia), as well as national and international collaborators in the consortium. The post holder will analyse data, daft patents, and prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.
Applications are sought from individuals with skills and experience in the field of organic synthesis, and organic and physical characterization techniques. Profound experience with multistep glyco-synthesis and purification is highly desirable.
The Research Officer will be based in the chemistry department at the Singleton campus.
