ABOUT THE ROLE

This role represents an exciting opportunity for you to use your skills and experience to make a real difference to the outcomes and success of the faculties in one of our core teams. The Team works in partnership with lead academic colleagues in the area of employability and placements to deliver the Faculty’s strategic ambitions efficiently and effectively, ensuring alignment to Faculty and University employability strategies.

Available on a full-time basis (35-hours per week) you will be an integral part of the team delivering the highest levels of excellence in professional operational leadership in the following functions:

  • Employability and Careers Support/Advice
  • Managing Embedded Programme Placements
  • Year in Industry Placements
  • Study Abroad Placements
  • Embedding Employability into the curriculum (working with academic staff)
  • Implementing and contributing to University/Faculty Employability and Placements Strategy

The Careers Consultant is a highly rewarding role, working with students, employers, placement providers and a range of academic and professional service colleagues to enable excellent graduate outcomes, strong support services for students and offering a high-quality placement enabling service.

Reporting to the Employability and Placements Manager, you will produce and use management information and data to measure team performance and work closely with Heads of School/Department to ensure that all students are supported by the Employability & Placements Service and that opportunities for successful graduate outcomes are available to all.

A high level of customer service, the ability to build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders, and strong planning and coordination skills are essential criteria for the role. The ability to think creatively and flexibly is essential for this role as well as being able to adapt to changing student needs across a variety of disciplines. The role holder will be required to work closely with academic colleagues to ensure that the service given to students is relevant and embedded within academic study.

The successful candidate will have experience in the field of advice and guidance in a careers and employability context and will have an in depth knowledge of the field within a HE setting.
