Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) to work in the field of viscoelastic fluid mechanics, to start on 01 October 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful applicant will work with Prof. Rich Kerswell on a project to investigate coherent structures in polymer (viscoelastic) turbulence using Koopman analysis and dynamic mode decomposition.
Duties will include developing and conducting collaborative research objectives and projects. The role holder will be expected to plan and manage their own research and administration, with guidance if required. They must be able to communicate material of a technical nature, work in a team, be able to build internal and external contacts and plan/deliver seminars relating to the research area.
The role holder is expected to have a background (demonstrated by publications) in viscoelastic fluid mechanics and Koopman analysis. The successful candidate will have, or just submitted their thesis for, a PhD in applied mathematics.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 6 months in the first instance.
