Derby College Group (DCG) have an opportunity to join our Finance Team as an Assistant Financial Accountant, reporting to the Director of Finance. This is a new role for the College which makes it an exciting opportunity to join the team and shape the role, with a strong potential for career progression. It will involve hybrid working, including working at our modern office space at the Ilkeston Campus 3 days per week and working at home 2 days per week. The Opportunity
Within this role you’ll be assisting with the financial accounting function including the preparation of key accounting reconciliations, capital reporting, treasury and taxation. You’ll play a pivotal role in the ensuring the Finance Team deliver an excellent level of service to both internal and external stakeholders. To facilitate this, you’ll review current processes and utilise system advances to make processes lean for users, thus driving efficiency and productivity.
About you
You’ll have achieved AAT Level 3 or equivalent and be keen to progress to Level 4 with full support from the College. As a learning institution we are keen to support our employees to achieve further qualifications and development within their careers.
It is essential that you have experience of financial processes such as reconciliations and providing information to auditors. You’ll be competent at achieving high levels of accuracy and will have strong analytical and interpretation skills. To excel in this role, you’ll have excellent IT skills and be expert at using MS Excel. Building working relationships with internal and external stakeholders will be key within this role, so great communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
