Hertford College are seeking a motivated, creative and proactive Development Officer to provide direct support for all fundraising activity and have responsibility for enhancing and delivering our regular giving programme. This includes working with our consultants on large fundraising appeals such as telethons and Giving Days, as well as day-to-day activities to administer and implement campaigns, data and prospect work, tracking donations and outstanding pledges, and stewardship of donors.
This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who is interested in gaining fundraising experience in an ambitious and well supported team.
Please note: we recognise that you may not have significant experience of higher education fundraising under your belt and will consider candidates who meet the job description and are able to demonstrate successful experience in a targeted revenue generation environment. Some flexibility in working hours will be necessary, as the role occasionally requires attending events in the evening or at weekends. Some U.K. travel may also be required.
Hertford is a friendly yet ambitious college dedicated to the principles of access and equality of opportunity. It is proud of its open and progressive history. This is an exciting time for Hertford as we approach the 150th anniversary of the refoundation of the college. The Principal, Tom Fletcher, joined the college in 2020 and announced Hertford’s vision for the next ten years, which includes ambitious building projects and a continued commitment to access, student support and sustainability. We have a wide-ranging new Development strategy supporting an increase in annual income across the board, and a renewed focus on individual giving is at the heart of this strategy.
You will benefit from support and working in close collaboration with the rest of our committed Hertford community. We will invest in your personal development through training, mentoring and professional development. We offer a generous benefits package, including a pension scheme with the ability to select your contribution level, 28 days holiday plus bank holiday, an employee discount platform with access to thousands of retail discounts, social events and many more.
