About the Role
The Assistant Manager (Bars) main role is to ensure the safe and secure management of our outlets during operational hours. This includes a focus on floor and bar service, helping and mentoring some of our 60-student staff, welfare leadership on staff and customers alike and a desire to improve the efficiency of our general service.
The Events programme at Queen Mary Students’ Union is integral to the student experience and Queen Mary University of London, providing them with a platform to meet others, socialise and unwind during their time with us. Integral to this events platform, is the safe and proactive management of our Venues, namely Drapers, a 900 capacity multi-purpose bar & kitchen, and Griff a 250 capacity Cafe by day, Bar by night operation, with hospitality at its forefront. This is a great opportunity for a current duty manager or graduate looking for a managerial start within the Licensed trade industry.
About You
You should be a ‘hands on organised person who is committed to the values of the organisation, being a safe, friendly environment with the student experience at its core, but with an ability to see projects through from start to finish. This role’s hours would be predominantly Monday – Friday with a mixture of daytime and evening work and would require availability on occasional weekends around the needs of the business.
Applicants should have excellent communication skills and can work with a wide range of people. Candidates must have the ability to work well under pressure, work confidently within a space of alcohol service, and be eligible for a Personal License.
