Social Statistics at the University of Manchester is a leading research and teaching department. Together, with the Department of Sociology, we are consistently highly ranked for research, coming first in the UK for the percentage of our research outputs that are judged as ‘world-leading’, and second nationally based on our research power. An opportunity has arisen to join this internationally recognised department.
The person will convene and deliver lectures & tutorials on undergraduate modules in Social Statistics/Data Analytics pathway, on our Master’s programme in Social Research Methods & Statistics as well as contribute to the development of the new Master’s in Data Analytics and Social Statistics by distance learning. The modules will include topics related to social statistics, survey analysis, demography and social research methods. Duties will include marking, providing student feedback and supervising dissertations in the Social Statistics department. Teaching-related administrative work as well as the peer review of teaching of Graduate Teaching Assistants also falls into the responsibility of this role.
The lecturer will also have time to pursue their own scholarship interests and related academic publications. The lecturer will be encouraged to join the active research groups in the department and to contribute to the research seminar series.
This is a 1 year maternity cover post.
