Background
The Timetabling and Attendance Team are the systems owners with responsibility for the management, development, and maintenance of the Timetabling system (Scientia) and the Attendance Monitoring System (TDS). The team are undergoing a period of improvement in working practices and the successful applicant will have an opportunity to feed into these process and improvements, with a particular emphasis on enhancing our stakeholder relationships.
The Role
This role would suit someone who is looking to enhance their people and process management skills and who has management or supervisory experience.
The main purpose of the role over this next period will be to manage the day-to-day operations of the team and ensure the Timetabling and Attendance team members are effectively supported and appropriately upskilled as we move to the new approach to timetable development. We are particularly welcoming applications from colleagues with experience of managing or supervising others. Experience or interest in coaching, training delivery and people development in a solution-focussed environment would be particularly beneficial for the post-holder.
Stakeholder management will also be an important aspect of this role, so the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues across the university and our external suppliers will be key. The post-holder will need to be able to represent and negotiate on behalf of the team at meetings and committees, support the development of effective practice alongside stakeholders, and ensure communication channels are effective.
Experience of timetabling and/or attendance practices are beneficial but not essential for this role as any necessary training can be delivered within the team once in post.
How will you work?
We are committed to supporting flexible methods of working wherever possible and this role is Flexible and connected (Professional Services) Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align to the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders. It is expected that there will be a relatively even balance between time spent on and off campus; but in most cases the work location will be determined by the service required or the tasks/activities being undertaken, however for this post we would be willing to consider someone joining as a ‘Remote contributor’ where the need for on campus presence will still be required, but will be more occasional, at least one block per month and typically at key points during the year or for University, Department or Team events as required.
