The Mechanics, Materials and Design Division (Division C) is one of the six academic Divisions in the Department of Engineering. This Division researches many aspects of applied mechanics, materials, bio-mechanics and engineering design. It currently has around 200 members, including faculty, research staff, post-graduate students, support staff and official visitors. Based at the Department's central Cambridge site, the Divisional Administrator has the chief administrative role in the Division and reports directly to the Head of Division.
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining divisional administrative policy and processes for the Division in order to ensure the smooth running of teaching and learning/research activities. You will also act as line manager to the other administrators in the Division, ensuring that the administrative staff of the Division provide excellent administrative support to the academic staff in the Division, and in particular to the Head of Division.
The successful applicant will be educated to degree level /Level 6 vocational qualification or have an equivalent level of practical experience. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team and also provide clear leadership when necessary. You will have experience of developing/reviewing administrative processes and systems, which includes budget management and reporting, as well as previous office and facilities management experience. Well-developed IT skills are an essential requirement for this role and knowledge of the University's financial management and procurement systems would be desirable.
