A new opportunity has arisen for an IT professional to join the Department of Materials as a IT Support Officer on a part-time basis.

Reporting to the IT Manager, you will work as part of a small team, supporting all aspects of IT within the Department of Materials at Oxford University. You will act as 1st line support, providing assistance to queries from both students and departmental colleagues. Exercising excellent problem-solving skills, the post-holder will play a key role in the team, assisting in all stages in the lifecycle of IT hardware and software, alongside contributing to the development and implementation of IT policies.

The successful candidate needs to demonstrate an ability to discuss technical details with other IT professionals, but also the ability to communicate effectively with users at all levels in an academic environment.

This vacancy is to be worked as a job-share, working at 0.4 FTE (14.6 hours) over Mondays and Fridays. This is a fixed term contract and will be available for a 12-month period.
