The School has been delivering consistent growth in student numbers over many years, attributed to a highly reputable teaching portfolio and graduate employability. The successful candidates will also have the opportunity to develop their research in one of the areas described below and get involved in our excellent extracurricular activities.
Our success and student experience have been recently enhanced by the move to the Headington Hill campus. This purpose-built workshop houses a fully equipped machine shop including 3 and 5-axis CNC machines, the Multimatic 5-post rig, Composites manufacture laboratory, Tensile testing laboratory and Fluids wing with a new wind tunnel. It features a new suite of two petrol/alternative fuel and two electric dynos, complemented by an adjacent High-Voltage laboratory, equipped for testing battery pouches and full battery packs.
The teaching building offers laboratories for Electronics, Robotics (XX and two ABB robots), GANT computer-integrated manufacturing demonstrator, dynamics & vibration laboratory and more. We also have a state-of-the-art virtual reality Multiview Cave, 350+ computers and a high-power computing suite to support modelling and simulation and more. Both the teaching and the workshop building also house an enviable range of recent and historic race vehicles.
