The Research Department of Primary Care and Population Health is headed by Professors Greta Rait and Kate Walters and is part of the UCL Institute of Epidemiology and Health Care.

The Department’s strategic aim is to deliver high-quality teaching in community-based primary care and public health, and to undertake a programme of internationally competitive multi-disciplinary research addressing the management and prevention of disease in individuals and populations in areas which are of priority to the health of the public.

About the role

As a Clinical Lecturer in Primary Care, you will:

  • Lead impactful research in primary care, with opportunities to work on national cohort studies, clinical trials, developing new interventions and health informatics projects.
  • Inspire future clinicians by designing and delivering innovative teaching in primary care mental health for UCL medical students.
  • Support early career researchers, including PhD students and Academic Clinical Fellows, helping to build the next generation of academic leaders.
  • Contribute to strategic development, aligning your work with departmental goals and national health priorities.

You will be embedded in a vibrant, interdisciplinary environment with access to world-class resources, including UCL’s extensive research networks.

The salary will be made up of Grade CL8.12 (£78,799) plus a Market Supplement (£16,714 ) Total £95,513 (Pro-rata).

About you

You are a qualified GP, fully registered with the GMC and on the NHS performers list, with:

  • A PhD (or equivalent) and a strong track record in primary care research.
  • Experience in teaching medical students and a commitment to educational excellence.
  • A desire to innovate in both research and teaching.
  • The ability to collaborate across disciplines and mentor emerging researchers.
