Applications are invited for an appointment as Lecturer in Chemistry for Health Sciences at University of Galway.
The School of Biological and Chemical Sciences (SBCS) in the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Galway invites applications for a Lecturer in Health Sciences position, commencing August 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The permanent post is funded by the Higher Education Authority (HEA) in Ireland to support the creation of a MPharm programme at the University of Galway.
Candidates with postgraduate level teaching and research experience in chemistry for pharmaceutical sciences and related fields are particularly sought. Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience of coordinating modules and courses in areas such as pharmacognosy, (bio)pharmaceutical chemistry, and analytical chemistry. The lecturer will be located within the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences, which hosts programmes such as Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry and Biopharmaceutical Chemistry and they will contribute mainly to the new MPharm programme of Pharmacy. The successful candidate will be expected to take on a significant part of the teaching of the new modules of chemistry for the pharmacy programme such as 1st year Chemistry for Pharmacy, 2nd year analytical and synthetic chemistry for pharmacy, and/or the 3rd year module in natural products and drugs.

The appointment will be made at Lecturer level, commensurate with experience.
Salary: €63,624 to €101,498 p.a (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)
