Aston University, in partnership with Pulse Power & Measurement Ltd (PPM), is offering an exciting Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) opportunity. The project aims to develop an extended reach Radio over Fibre (RFoF) transport system using novel amplification techniques. It will be based at PPM’s Swindon site, within their ViaLite Communications division.
This innovative technology represents a first-to-market opportunity for PPM and aligns with a known industry demand. While off-the-shelf components exist, integrating them into a cohesive product requires new knowledge and expertise, which this KTP will provide.
PPM, a wholly owned subsidiary of BAE Systems, includes four business divisions. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing next-generation photonics products, working closely with Aston academics and PPM engineers.
Candidate Profile:
Applicants should have at least a Master's degree in Photonics/Optics, with relevant experience. A PhD is desirable.

Project Team & Location:
You’ll work with Dr Mingming Tan and Dr Ian Phillips from Aston University and PPM’s senior team. The role is based in Swindon, with occasional travel to Aston University in Birmingham and to client sites.
