About us

The Research Department of Primary Care and Population Health is part of the Institute of Epidemiology and Health Care and is headed by Professors Kate Walters and Greta Rait. The department’s strategic aim is to deliver high-quality teaching in community-based primary care and public health and to undertake a programme of internationally competitive multi-disciplinary research addressing the management and prevention of disease in individuals and populations in areas which are of priority to the health of the public.

About the role

Are you ready to shape the future of healthcare decision-making through cutting-edge economic evaluation? Join UCL’s renowned Health Economics Analysis and Research methods Team (HEART) and help improve patient outcomes by generating real-world economic evidence for high-impact clinical trials.

Your Impact

  • Lead economic evaluations and decision modelling alongside national multi-centre trials.
  • Contribute to funding applications and influence trial design from conception to publication.
  • Publish and present work that directly informs healthcare policy and practice.
  • Collaborate with world-leading academics and clinicians at UCL, Priment CTU and beyond.
  • Advance your expertise in trial-based health economics while building your own research portfolio.

What You Bring

  • Strong background in health economics, statistics, or related quantitative discipline.
  • Experience with trial-based economic evaluation and/or decision modelling.
  • Skilled in using statistical packages (e.g. Stata) and Excel for data analysis.
  • A Master’s degree (minimum) with a strong quantitative component.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the drive to deliver research that matters.

  • This is a Fixed-Term Appointment with External Funding until 31-Dec-2026 in the first instance.
  • This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.
