Join Aston Business School – Triple Accredited and Research-Driven
Aston Business School is proud to be Triple Accredited (EQUIS, AACSB, AMBA), recognised for excellence in research (100% Research Impact in the latest REF), teaching (triple Gold in the TEF), and business engagement. Based in Birmingham City Centre, we offer outstanding transport links—including a 1.2-hour train journey to London—and also maintain a London presence and global partnerships.
The Accounting and Finance Department comprises over 50 staff, covering a wide range of specialisms. Within it, the Accounting group delivers a highly regarded undergraduate accounting programme and two postgraduate programmes. Our teaching spans Birmingham, London, Singapore, and other international locations.
As part of our growth strategy, we’re seeking inspirational and motivated individuals to enhance the department’s teaching and citizenship. You’ll be joining a department with a vibrant culture of teaching innovation and rigorous, relevant research.
Our research areas include accounting governance and regulation, management accounting, financial reporting, accountability, taxation, and accounting pedagogy. We are home to two specialist research units—in public sector and not-for-profit governance and sustainability accounting—as well as a Research Centre in personal financial wellbeing and a Fraud Research Group.
We value collaborative, hands-on individuals with a can-do attitude. The successful candidate will support teaching and related administration across various modules, playing a key role in developing our curriculum and enhancing our teaching portfolio.
Applicants should have a good first degree and ideally a higher degree (at least Master's level), relevant professional or teaching qualifications, and/or industry experience in accounting or consulting. Experience in academic or professional teaching will be considered an advantage.
In this role, you’ll contribute to the School’s teaching and scholarship—independently and collaboratively—through professional practice. You will also help build external links with organisations including government agencies, professional bodies, businesses, and schools, in line with the University’s strategic goals.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a committed, team-oriented individual to help shape a dynamic and forward-thinking department.
Contract: Fixed term for three years (possible extension by mutual agreement, though not guaranteed).
Aston University is dedicated to the Athena SWAN Charter, promoting gender equality and an inclusive working environment. We’re proud of our vibrant, friendly, and supportive atmosphere.
