In recent years, in terms of Higher Education, Student Support has seen rapid development. As a result, there has been a noticeable increase in institutional responsibilities and raised student expectations. Key among this is support for our disabled student population.
Job Description
The University of Aberdeen Student Advice & Support Office is seeking to recruit a Needs Assessor to ensure that students are supported with a range of individual requirements. This will involve working closely with individual students, as well as with a range of University colleagues, to assess student need and prepare detailed reports on suitable reasonable adjustments to ensure students can reach their full potential and thrive at the University. The role will have a primary focus in supporting our disabled students, assessing their needs and making sure their support and any eligible Disabled Students Allowance is efficiently coordinated and administered. Support to the wider operation of the team will also be part of this new position.
The successful applicant will have a primary role in assessing and reporting on the needs of our disabled students through the production of formal Needs Assessment reports. The postholder will also have a key role in coordinating the administration of student applications for DSA and the administrative work of the Student Advice & Support team. This will include managing emails accounts; regular communication with students on the phone and in person; the processing of first-time applications for support from the team; and reporting on our disabled students and service provision.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 5 scale, £32,546 - £36,130 per annum, pro rata and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
