Library Assistant

University of the West of Scotland – Information Services (Library)

Part time: 15 hours per week

The University of West of Scotland are recruiting a Library Assistant to join our team in Lanarkshire. As a key member of the team, you will be supporting the student experience by carrying out the day-to-day operations needed for the efficient running of the library. In addition to standard activities, each Library Assistant will be expected to use their experience and knowledge to provide focused support in one or two key areas of library activity. As part of a specialist team, the successful applicant will carry out day-to-day library operations and activities using agreed procedures and processes, where a significant degree of skill is required.

The working pattern for this position will be:

Monday: 8:30am to 4:30pm

Tuesday: 10:00am to 2:00pm

Wednesday: 10:00am to 2:00pm

The successful candidate should have the following:

  • HNC or Equivalent of work experience
  • Evidenced experience of working or volunteering within a customer service or relevant technical expertise
  • Ability and willingness to learn new procedures and systems quickly.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient in working on your own initiative as well as within a team.
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Strong attention to detail in order to work accurately and contribute to service effectiveness
  • Willingness to travel and operate across university campuses
  • Capable of working towards deadlines and prioritising workload
