Department
This is an exciting opportunity to join an experienced and supportive research team in the School for Business and Society at the University of York. We are looking for a skilled quantitative Research Associate to work on a Nuffield funded study examining how parents organise hybrid work and childcare, and how different hybrid work-care combinations impact on work-family balance and wellbeing for mothers and fathers in different social-economic circumstances. We will also explore antecedents for hybrid work-care combinations, especially how childcare policy influences decisions. The research evidence produced from this research will influence national and regional policy, childcare providers and employers to foster an ecosystem for effective hybrid work. The post will be located within the School for Business and Society at the University of York. You will be line-managed by Dr Naomi Finch.

Role
This role will primarily focus on conducting quantitative research. This will include assisting the Principal Investigator (Dr Naomi Finch) and co-investigator (Prof Katharina Bader) in undertaking secondary analysis of Understanding Society data and primary analysis of a novel national survey in England. The Research Associate may also be involved in facilitating co-produced events, contributing to research outputs for publication, and disseminating research findings to regional and national audiences. The post will involve working in partnership with national charities.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

  • You should have a PhD in Social Policy/Human Resources management or other relevant area or equivalent experience.
  • You will have knowledge and experience in undertaking quantitative research techniques and methodologies, ideally including conducting longitudinal analysis.
  • You will have experience of undertaking independent research, experience of writing up research work for publications, and presenting research findings for a variety of audiences.
  • Time management, communication and organisation skills are essential.

Interview date: To be confirmed
