King’s Centre for International Education and Languages a new, cross-cutting Centre designed to widen the educational reach of King’s. It brings together three existing areas: King’s Foundations, Summer Programmes, and King’s Language Centre. This brings together international pathway provision, pre sessional programmes, pre-UG summer courses, UG summer modules, UG language modules, bespoke language programmes for the community and our partners and academic skills provision for all King’s students.
Each of these areas are well established, respected and recognised within and beyond the King’s community. The Centre is focused on enabling collaboration between the three departments to further advance our work in promoting educational excellence and supporting and enhancing the student experience. The Centre has expertise in International Education and makes a significant contribution to the rich and diverse make-up of the King’s student body.
About the role
The Digital Education Manager will lead the creation of a new Digital Education Team at the Centre for International Education and Languages (CIEL), which encompasses the King’s Language Centre, King’s Foundations, and King’s Summer. CIEL is composed of around 250 academic and professional services staff and teaches over 12,000 students each year.
This role will provide strategic leadership in developing and implementing innovative, evidence-based digital education strategies at CIEL. It involves leading a newly formed Digital Education team, overseeing the assessment of the current and future needs of the departments, providing planned and ad hoc support and development of staff and materials. This role will be a key contact and point of liaison with the university’s central Digital Education team and also a key member of the CIEL Education Committee.
The successful candidate will drive innovation and support continuous professional development for staff, creating an inclusive, forward-thinking environment that enhances both student and staff experiences through consistent, accessible, and engaging digital tools and technologies. It is expected that this person can provide leadership in a number of areas of digital education, with particular expertise in digital assessment and feedback, learning design, and/or generative AI for educational purposes being highly desirable.
