We are a world class research-intensive university. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality. We play a leading role in economic, social and cultural development of the North East of England. Attracting and retaining high-calibre people is fundamental to our continued success.
The Role
We are seeking a motivated molecular scientist to join our team investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying mitochondrial disorders at the Life Arc Centre for Rare Mitochondrial Diseases https://www.lifearc.org/project/lifearc-translational-centres-for-rare-diseases/. The role involves designing and performing laboratory experiments, including molecular and cell biology techniques (e.g. proteomics, transcriptomics, genomics in patient-derived tissues and cells), data analysis, and interpretation. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to integrate findings with clinical data. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset. Experience with cell culture, functional assays, genomic editing and imaging techniques is desirable.
The position is full-time and available for a duration of 4 years, starting as soon as possible. We recognise and support diverse personal circumstances and are open to discuss flexible working arrangements.
